Accessibility Statement

We want Medicine in Practice to be usable by as many people as possible and aim to meet WCAG 2.2 AA. This is a target we are working towards, not a conformance guarantee or certification. The app uses semantic headings, labelled form fields, keyboard-operable controls, visible focus styles and a responsive layout.

Module lessons include an Aa reading panel with adjustable text size, extra line/letter spacing, a dyslexia-friendly mode (low-glare cream background, emphasis without italics, following British Dyslexia Association style guidance), and a focus mode that hides everything except the lesson you are on. Every lesson also has a Listen button that reads it aloud using your browser's speech. Lessons are broken into one-at-a-time cards with time estimates, and the "test me first" learning style teaches only your gaps - all choices persist on your device.

On 13 August 2026, our automated rendered-page audit checked 70 entry routes at mobile, tablet and desktop widths. It covered page overflow, broken images, image alternatives, control names, duplicate IDs, clipped controls, reliably measurable text contrast, page headings, the main landmark, skip link, document language, empty content and uncaught page errors; all 210 route-and-viewport checks completed with no outstanding findings from those rules.

• Some interactive simulations are complex; we’re improving screen-reader announcements and focus management.
• Automated testing cannot prove WCAG conformance. Manual keyboard, screen-reader, zoom/reflow, forced-colour and text-spacing reviews remain necessary.
• Complex authenticated simulations need assistive-technology testing across their complete interaction and error-recovery states, not just their signed-out entry pages.
• An independent or otherwise formally accountable WCAG 2.2 assessment has not yet been completed.
